Student Assistant Position Description
The Student Assistant is under the direct supervision of the Haskell Cultural Center curator.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist curator in organizing and cataloging Haskell Archives, including records, documents, photographs, and Rinehart Collection
- Assist curator in organizing and cataloging Haskell museum collections, including art, jewelry, baskets, pottery, furniture, traditional clothing, and Haskell historical items
- Assist secretary in conducting tours of Cultural Center and campus
- Assist secretary in answering research requests
- Locate historical data on subjects of archival documents, photographs, and museum collections
- Assist curator with putting together exhibits using collections
Knowledge, skills, abilities required
- Research skills
- Experience with photography and scanning photos and documents
- Training in VR Worx, Adobe Photoshop, and Zoomify software
- Computer capability and neat legible handwriting
- Flexibility and willingness to interact and communicate tactfully and effectively with a wide variety of patrons, donors, and staff
- Willingness to work under pressure or with deadlines
