Wellbriety Counselor

HASKELL ALCOHOL/SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR

To provide a safe, drug and alcohol-free environment that promotes personal growth, resilience, and a community connection.

Haskell’s alcohol and substance abuse program is a safe, community based program that is culturally based, adapted to the university environment. When students visit with the counselor, there are many opportunities for the student to participate in. College students tend to have many questions about alcohol and drugs and are welcome to come and learn about the short and long term affects that these substances may have on your pursuit of a college education and beyond.

There is a combination of different approaches used to explore the many facets of prevention and personal knowledge of alcohol and drug use. Evidence based research along with the latest research and tools are used to educate and empower students to make informed decisions concerning alcohol and drugs.

Culturally based activities using a holistic approach is also offered. Sweats (when available), medicine pouches, sweet grass, cedar, and sage – when in stock – are available to students who choose The Wellbriety Movement.

There are many opportunities for Service-Learning students to participate in. We have our annual Wellbriety walk, community building efforts and networking with our local community resources to enhance their coursework with real world experiences.
